Recently, a week of calm weather has been brought upon otherwise chaotic seas. Many people were taking advantage of such fine weather. One of these people was Elowen.
Despite being a prisoner aboard the Vindicta, she was let above deck every so often. She found the break from the dark rooms below quite relaxing and renewing. Leaning against the railing of the ship, she squinted across the ocean. She could've sworn she saw another boat in the distance...

Standing near the ship's pier was the mysterious woman, Beryl. No one was exactly sure why she was onboard or who she was, or even when she got on the ship. Her soft features weren't common in a pirate's crew, and her faraway gaze and dreamy voice made ger seem a bit...off. But she wasn't mean and was careful not to get in the way.
Her long, flowing dresses drifted on the breeze along with her silky black hair.

Elowen was quiet for a while, but eventually, she spoke up and asked Beryl a question. "Do you think that's a ship out there?" she asked, pointing at the horizon.
Offline
"Mm, yes...there are far more ships in the sea than there are fish in the air..." she mused, voice soft and melodious.
Offline
"I...don't there's any fish in the air." She tried to laugh, but it sounded awkward. Is she ok?
Offline
"The fish and the bird are such a tragic romance." She said, as if agreeing to something.
Offline
"Um, sorry? Am I missing something?"
Offline
"Yes, but you will find it some day." She said, patting her hand sympathetically.

Raez isn't really a lazy person, but it's not like he's a workaholic. Calmer seas mean less orders to make...partially because navigation is much easier, and also because merchant ships can see them coming much more easily. Sometimes he prefers stormy weather, but not all the time. Now is one of those outlying times, where he reckons he's earned a vacation. Or whatever one would call lounging in the front of the ship, being more like a scout or a prisoner let out to roam than a captain.
He has his hat on to block him from the Sun and is generally enjoying his day, peering at the world around them through finger binoculars and taking care he isn't "accidentally" launched overboard by some sudden jostle of the ship, when he spies the other ship. He thought it was there a long ways coming, actually, but he thought it was some mirage on the water. Guess I let down my guard, he thought, looking a bit more into the distance with his keen eyesight before deciding what the right course of action is.
It doesn't take him too long to figure out which ship it is. The Cardinals are, after all, not known for the most modest of ship designs. Or stolen ships, whatever. Deciding this isn't a day he wants to get tangled up in some Cardinal conflict, the Southern cardinal throws away the thought of calling to the rest of the crew and instead just waits.

Beryl was looking out at thw ship with serene curiosity. "Oh, is that a friend?"
Offline
"Maybe..." Elowen mumbled. "But who knows?"
Offline
"Yes, Who tends to know more than What or Where..."
Offline
She nodded slowly, unsure of what exactly to say.
Offline
The odd girl gave her a calm, dreamy smile, as if all was right with the world and she wasn't the most confusing creature in existence.
Offline
As the ship neared, Beryl waved with a smile. "Hello friend~!" Her voice floated on the breeze like a song.
Offline
Raez isn't much of a shouter unless he needs to shout, so he just waves.
...haha, get it? Waves? They're on water?
...the narrator's stupid, lol.
Offline
"The waves on the sea are friendly." Beryl said.
Offline
Well, that, he can't hear. Or if he does, it's not really directed towards him, so he's like, Alright.
Offline
The odd woman seemed content as ever. "Perhapse we should extend an invitation?"

"We could, but we should check with the captain."
Offline
"Oh yes," she said. "You humans exist under such different rules. Who is the captain again?"" She looked around, before noticing a seagull. "Is that the captain?"
Offline
That's Raez's pet seagull, actually, which squawks at her like "Yes, I am the captain, bow down to me, mortal" before circling back to Solis.
Offline
She gave a graceful curtsy as if on its command.
Offline
Guess she'll have to follow Captain Seagull if she wishes to speak with it, then.
Offline
Elowen blinked up at the seagull and then shook her head. "No, that's just a random bird."
Offline
"It seemed to disagree."
Offline
The seagull is fast, but it's not showing that speed. It lazily flies through the air, soaring a bit before flapping its wings at the absolute minimum rate possible.
Offline
"Disagree with what?"
Offline
"That he isn't the captain." She replied serenely.

Ruby McManson walked over to her captain, frowning a bit at the ship in the distance. "The Vindicta...have they shown any signs of hostility?"
