She grinned. "Fascinating..."

Finally, Atlantis lowered her hands and turned to Jeanie. "At this pace, we should arrive at our next poor in a few hours." She said, her heavy tropical scent lingering around her.
Offline
"Incredible." She said, beaming.

A salty sea breeze rustled Atlantis' dark brown braids as she gazed deeply into Jeanie's eyes. "Rune magic is a beautiful, terrifying thing." She murmured.
Offline
"Yes, and so interesting...I've always wanted to do a study of it." She said.
Offline
"Be careful not to be consumed by it." Atlantis warned, fingering her ancient rune.
Offline
"Oh, I haven't got a rune of my own." She said. "But I've read about them. There's frustratingly little information on them."
Offline
"That might be because those who do have runes don't want to share too many details about their magic." Atlantis replied, holding up a slender hand and summoning forth a sparking tendril of lightning.
Offline
"Probably so." She sighed.
Offline
"It's unwise to share your powers with anyone," Hawthorne agreed. The captain was probably the only person on his ship other than his sister Elowen to even know he had a rune.
{Sorry, I kinda forgot about this XD}
Offline
(Nah, it's all good XD)
"But...wouldn't it be difficult then, for a new rune owner to learn how to use it? Especially if there were no other runeholders around?"
Offline
((No problem :D))
Atlantis raised a brow. "True, but do you think other runeholders want their runes stolen because they gave away too much information about their rune magic."
Offline
"I do believe the mystery is a larger part of the appeal."
Offline
A ghost of a smile flickered across Atlantis' lips. "Perhaps."
Offline
"In any case, it is quite a curious and perplexing phenomenon, owning a rune that is"
Offline
"It is." She reached up and unclasped her rune necklace. "Do you want to hold it?"
Offline
"Can I?" She asked, already studying it with her eyes.
Offline
"Yes." She dropped the glittering Rune of Weather into Jeanie's hands.
Offline
Jeanie immediately began turning it over in her hands, analyzing everything and committing it to memory. Ooh she'd love to figure out what made these things work...
Offline
The rune thrummed with power, radiating through Jeanie's whole body and sending electrifying chills down her spine.
Offline
Jeanie itches to take notes about this, but standing there, she couldn't write and hold the rune at the same time.
Offline
The sapphire danced and glowed with turquoise and lavender and peach and magenta and rose and a thousand other bright, rich colours. It was heavy to hold and cool to touch.
It was power.
Offline
Jeanie was fascinated. How could it naturally hold so much color? Was that what gave it power?
Offline
Suddenly, a jolt of electricity radiated out from the weather rune and through Jeanie's body. It didn't harm her, but the electric current made her hand stand straight up, her fingers and toes tingle, and chills to run down her spine.

Luckily her hair was rather short, so it didn't get in her face. She grinned at the new feeling.
Offline
Atlantis, however, looked rather concerned. "Miss Robins, are you alright? You're turning ashen."
Offline
"Yes I'm...I'm quite fine thank you...." she said, but she was now swaying slightly.
Offline
Swiftly, Atlantis reached out and deftly plucked the weather rune out of Jeanie's hand.
Offline
Jeanie shook herself.

Tight-lipped and grim-faced, Atlantis slipped the weather rune back around her own neck and explained, "That was foolish of me. To hold an exceptionally powerful rune and not be bound to it or used to rune magic... it can deadly."
